September Picnic
The Board and staff of BVIM regret that the Sept picnic was canceled due to rain. We hope this won't happen again. We will "hope for the best and prepare for the worst" by asking volunteers and board members who have cell phones to provide us with the numbers so we'll be able to notify everyone ASAP in the future, if there is a last minute change to an event.

Insights Art Exhibit
Our members, Bobbie Gray, Juanita Slater and Anabella Denisoff have contributed art work to this impressive exhibition. The public reception is Thursday, October 15th but we will be organizing a group trip in November. Please call 459-5066 for more info and/or to make a reservation for the trip.

Holiday Office Hours
The BVIM office will be closed on the following days:
Monday, October 12th for Columbus Day
Thursday and Friday, November 26 & 27 for Thanksgiving and the day after
Friday, December 25 - January 3, 2010 for the Holidays
The office will re-open on Monday,
January 4, 2010.

Macy's Shop-for-a-Cause Fundraiser
BVIM is participating in Macy's "Shop for a Cause" fundraiser. Here's how you can participate:
- You sell "shopping passes" for $5 each.
- The purchaser can use the pass at any Macy's on October 17th and receive incredible store-wide savings and prizes.
- BVIM gets the $5 donation.
It's a win/win situation!

Support Group Update
The Mill Valley Support Group has changed their meeting day from the 3rd Monday to the 4th Monday of each month.
Anabella's San Rafael support group will join with Shirley Gray's Marin City group on Monday, September 28 for a combined meeting followed by lunch.
The Quarterly Support Group Facilitators meeting will be held on November 3rd from 11 am - 12:30 in the Lighthouse classroom.

In Memorium
Juanita Slater, long-time BVIM member, passed away in September 2009 after a long battle with cancer. Juanita was an artist who was recently named "Outstanding Artist" at the annual Insights Art Show. She was an active member of BVIM; attending BVIM art classes, support groups, luncheons and cultural events. She will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 21 at St. Stephens Church, 3 Bayview, Belvedere, CA.
Barbara Pollach, a generous BVIM Art Class volunteer, passed away in September 2009.
