Member News

Anabella Denisoff has resigned as President of the BVIM Board of Directors. We thank her for all the time and dedication she has devoted to BVIM. She will continue to lead her San Rafael support Group.

Gerry Bourguignon will serve as interim President and Howie Herrin will serve as interim Vice President until December 2008, when new officers will be elected.

On October 1st the Lighthouse of Marin will be moving to a new location in downtown San Rafael and BVIM will be moving along with them. Don't worry, we'll keep you apprised of any new information as soon as we know it!

An Art Exhibit by low-vision and blind artists. 60% of the items are touchable. Congratulations to Richard Mickely, Bobbie Gray & Anabella Denisoff: Art work by these BVIM Artists has been accepted for this Exhibit!

Welcome New BVIM members

Nadine Lowrieis the newest member of Virginia Dziomba's San Rafael Support Group. She has also attending the July Luncheon. Welcome Nadine!

Kathy Hazardand her guide dog, Dean, joined the BVIM group that attended the July 28th Access Day at the deYoung Museum which featured a glass exhibition by Dale Chihuly. Kathy has been a regular at the Novato Support Group, but has just joined BVIM recently. Glad to finally meet you, Kathy!!

Joan Yates is traveling to Italy in September - spending 6 days in Venice & then on to other Italian locations with a tour group. Rich & Les Oettel are back from a trip to Lake Alpine, the Sierra Nevada & Calveras County. Linda Sampson & Pam Firestone had a great trip to Italy. Hightlight of their trip? Venice! Marian & Bob Weiss enjoyed their annual visit to the adult session of the Lighthouse Enchanted Hills Camp!

A Tribute to Jeffrey Torrico

To our leader, we pay tribute: constantly in hot pursuit, finding speakers to inform us, volunteers to drive us, plus planning socials with pizazz and skill, sending cards when we are ill. We applaud her dedication. Thankful for the job she's done.

Anabel LaFrancois is a 90 year old charter member of the Novato BVIM Support Group and a talented writer and publisher of poems and children's books.
