About Vision Impaired of Marin (VIM)

In 1974 a few friends, all blind or visually impaired, met to visit and enjoy their sandwiches. They discussed their common concerns and challenges. The group began meeting regularly and their numbers grew. They decided to formally organize!

In 1983 they incorporated as Blind and Vision Impaired of Marin, Inc. as a 501(c)(3) Not for Profit corporation
(Federal ID# 94-2855368). Their membership continued to expand.

Today we have seven support groups throughout the County; even one for Spanish speaking members. We have art classes (with the aid of the Marin Society of Artists), Talking Book Clubs, Ukulele classes, outings and a semi-monthly catered luncheon meeting with entertainment by Bread & Roses.

How can you support Vision Impaired of Marin?

VIM is not government funded. All funding is derived from private sources. Gifts from individuals, local businesses and organizations keep the programs active. Additional financial support is always needed.

All donations are tax deductible through Vision Impaired of Marin's 501(c)(3) Not for Profit Organization. You will have the appreciation, gratitude, and thanks of the many, many people Vision Impaired of Marin now serves and will continue serve.

Below are some activities VIM offers to the vision impaired community.

The backbone of Vision Impaired of Marin is its volunteers. They drive, answer phones, arrange luncheons and entertainment, assist with classes and help in so many ways. VIM's expanding services need more volunteers. A phone call to the VIM office at (415-459-5066) or an email will provide answers as to how you can serve the visually impaired.
